Base2Race launches Junior High Performance program

Following the national and international success of our Senior High Performance team and the growth in interest in junior triathlon at a national level, Base2Race are delighted to launch a “Base2Race Triathlon Club”. Headed up by Eanna McGrath, this new initiative will allow Base2Race to expand our current training program to facilitate and incorporate a full youth program.

The new specialized coaching program will be unique to the sport of triathlon in Ireland and will be developed according to the interest and clear purpose of junior athletes looking to take their training to the next level. Youths and seniors alike will all be coached with “best practice” in mind using the rigors of contemporary science, individual interest in each individual athlete, and commitment from all parties involved.

Typically, training will take place in Greystones, Co. Wicklow and may involve swimming up to five days per week in Greystones. Running and cycling sessions will be dependent on individual circumstances. Juniors may only be biking and running on weekends, whereas seniors typically train daily.

The intensive program is open to all ages but will be restricted by both the demands of the program on the athlete; and by the demand for the program itself.

We will be hosting some introductory training days over this coming mid-term break this October Bank Holiday (Mon 31st Oct 2016 to Fri 4th Nov 2016). We are asking interested parents/athletes to register their interest by October 19th.
